Date Night Fashion

In our Covid omnipresent world, everything is always in flux and uncertain: social distance by how much, wave vs handshake, or to mask or not. So too, is the case in what we wear. The work from home wardrobe, or lack thereof, and the subsequent explosion of athleisure has contributed to making the answer to age-old question of “what should I wear?” even less certain.

This is not the case when it comes to date night dressing. There are a few simple truths: 1) date night is not intended to be everyday dressing; 2) dress for your date but also for you; and 3) put some effort into it and take it up a notch.

When you think about the traditional purpose of a “date” it’s intended to attract a mate, so dress for your audience but also the activity, i.e. picnic date or dinner date.

Here’s what to look for in a date night ensemble: garments should fit closer to the body; choose a garment with a touch of sheer fabric or lace incorporated (restrict it to only one piece of your outfit); skirts should be a bit shorter and fun; and heels should be a little higher.

That doesn’t mean you take these touches to the point you’re uncomfortable—but you can afford to be a bit daring here, it is a date after all. Ultimately, you don’t want to be tugging on your clothes all night because that just makes you self-conscious.

The last and most important recommendation…OWN IT! Nothing is more attractive than confidence—it always wears impeccably.
