Bags Everyone Needs
I’m unconventional when it comes to picking handbags because I don’t believe they need to be black or
neutral. Where I am conventional is bag type, where there are a few must haves: a crossbody bag, one
patent or embellished bag, and one large, cavernous bag.
When traveling, I love my Chanel wallet on a crossbody chain. Its dual function serving as a wallet with
lots of compartments and just by doubling the chain it’s perfect for going out. The chain adds a little
sparkle, dressing up what would otherwise be a small crossbody. When deciding what to purchase, this a
must-have staple.
For a dressier bag, you should look for embellishments or an eye-catching fabric. Patent of any color
adds a bit of sophistication, and they tend to be a bit more durable than fabric or material. If choosing a
fabric, dressy bag, make sure it’s easy to clean. For an embellished bag, make sure that the adornments
don’t snag your clothing—I’ve learned that one the hard way.
The last must have, is an extra-large bag because of its versatility. Mine has three compartments and a
center section that snaps in. With this handbag, I can carry my flats, laptop, and papers and it still looks
like a large handbag, though it’s functioning as a tote. When purchasing, carefully consider the straps and
hardware because they easily add weight to an already large bag, but make sure it has bag feet to protect
the bottom.
With this trifecta, you will always be covered, regardless of the occasion or venue and, as always, a bag
is an investment, so spend as much as you can afford.
Tammy’s Truism: Higher quality bags use of grommets and other metal hardware as a beautiful accent
but also for durability.
