Identifying Your Style
There are approximately seven universal styles for both men and women. Surprisingly,
much of our individual style tends to follow our personality traits, likes and dislikes,
telling people much about us.
The seven styles are: elegant, romantic, sporty, traditional, alluring, creative and
dramatic; most of which are self-explanatory. Any new trend or style typically derives
from one of the above.
We all tend to have predominantly two to three styles within our wardrobe at any given
time, depending on our lifestyle. Like it or not, your style sends a message to others
about what type of person you are, which is why it’s important to match your style to
what you want to convey.
For example, you don’t want to show up for a banking position interview in leggings and
a sweater if you want them to think you’re credible, qualified and can be taken seriously.
People form their opinion of you based on their impression about your appearance. The
most important thing is that your clothing reflects the situation you’re in but also who you
are.
Finally, when shopping, make sure the garment’s style reflects your “authentic self” and
something you’re comfortable wearing. If not, you’ll repeatedly skip over it when
dressing, making it a wasted purchase.

impression of you. To determine your style, think about how you like a garment to fit
and how it makes you feel.
