Improving Self-Confidence Through Clothing
Standing in your closet, not knowing what you’re going to wear, is one thing but when you’re feeling drab or not your prettiest is a different matter. It seems to follow you like a little cloud all day.
With a bit of strategy, you can change how you feel through dress. A trick I like is to pull out the one thing from my closet that makes me feel beautiful and confident, even if it’s not a fit for my day. Then, I find the closest thing to it in my closest but matches your day.
Another alternative is to pull together three looks for your regular activities which are the all-stars of your wardrobe—they always look good on you; they make you feel great and confident.
Have them hanging at the ready for anytime you’re not feeling your best. Using this approach, you have items that are ready to go which you don’t have to worry about if they look good together because you know they already do.
All of us have a favorite garment in our wardrobe which makes us feel put together and empowered. For me it’s jackets, either dressy or casual, because I’ve found ones that fit best for my body type, making me feel more put together. Once you know your garment of choice, keep it in mind when shopping so you can find something similar.
In the end, once you have figured out how to tackle your “blah” days, you get better at overcoming them so that your self-confidence shines through faster each time.
