Ladylike Silhouettes and Florals
Last season’s trend of the ladylike jacket has exploded onto the scene for spring and
now includes floral garments with ladylike silhouettes. Overall, this is more timeless
than trendy and essentially is “quiet luxury” with a pop of color.
First, the shirtwaist dress is everywhere with varying touches. For example, Akris has a
beautiful multi-color, vertically striped dress. It’s nipped at the waist, giving the wearer a
casual but elegant vibe. The fabric has a slight sheen and moves effortlessly with the
wearer; so too, does Eleventy’s shirtwaist.
If you have a wedding or graduation to attend, some of the most beautiful dresses of the
season are florals by Oscar de la Renta. Whether you choose the stretch cotton floral
with the waist tie or the fit and flair of the hollyhock print in taffeta, both are dresses
worth the investment.
Next, the linen and floral print top by Zimmerman is fantastic with a bit of whimsy, not
only does it have jeweled buttons, but the sleeves are also slightly puffed. The brand
also has a shorts outfit in a floral that’s just as eye-catching.
If you’re more conservative and opt for solid pieces, use an accessory to add a pop of
color, the pink Versace jacquard bag is versatile and will easily transition into summer.
My surprise favorite during this trip was the green Valentino sling-back pump. Initially, I
was reluctant to consider it, given my non-green wardrobe. I could not have been more
wrong as it is extraordinarily versatile and went with everything I tried on!
Tammy’s Truism: Pieces of the season are beautifully constructed in their fit and
fabric, echoing Jackie O or Audrey. These looks which are just as striking today with the
added benefit of modern fabrics.
