Ultimate Undergarments

When considering undergarments, there are two primary types and purposes which

make them “ultimate”: one focused on shape and the other beauty, though surprisingly

functional too.

Shapewear aimed at reducing the waist have been in existence for thousands of years,

be it belts of the ancient Greeks, or whalebone corsets of the 1700s. Within the last

decade, however, shapewear has been revolutionized to focus on new areas of the

body that women want to smooth and shape. There’s also been an explosion of options

for all body types and brands with everyday undergarments, like bras and pantyhose,

incorporating shapewear features. When combined with new synthetics, shapewear

effectiveness and breathability is physically transformative, which is why I consider it

“ultimate”.

The second category of “ultimate undergarments” is focused on beauty. Specifically,

high-end French and European lingerie brands, have perfected dainty undergarments,

like bras, taking them to an entirely other level. Their engineered lace’s formidable

strength belies its beauty while looking like “just lace”. The way the lace is produced

incorporates additional fortification in parts of the fabric resulting in a lightweight,

breathable, and astonishingly supportive material. When strategically stitched together,

the lace is capable of the same amount of support of any standard bra, though it’s

probably half the weight and thickness. When considering the delicate nature of lace

and its resulting strength, these French and European lingerie items are truly worthy of

being designed an “ultimate” undergarment.

Though dramatically different in appearance, these two categories are certainly

something every woman should have in her drawer. Though just undergarments, they

have the power to make women feel self-confident and beautiful while carrying out their

day, which is an “ultimate” achievement in and of itself.
