Universally Flattering Look
There are a few garments that should be a wardrobe staple as they look great on
everyone, regardless of body type. One of my favorites is the single-breasted multi-
button blazer because it’s universally flattering.
What I love about this jacket is that it elongates your look and while doing so, adds a bit
of je ne sais quoi. More importantly, not only does it add flair to your look, it also adds
confidence.
The jacket has many variations, and dependent upon your tastes, you can find one that
you love, whether it’s a got lapels or a stand-up collar or besom pockets.
When shopping for the single-breasted jacket, make sure it lands past your hip bone but
doesn’t end at your widest part. The fabric should lay flat at your collar bone, if not, the
shoulders should be tailored.
Also, the sleeves should end at the wrist. Many of these jackets have cuffs or lots of
buttons at the sleeve, which adds to the cost of tailoring, if you need to shorten them.
When styling this jacket, you can go for the old money look of monochromatic dressing,
or something a bit more interesting with a top which has detailing or bright colors,
contrasting the jacket’s clean look.
Finally, this jacket style is versatile when it comes to bottoms, given its strong line.
Whether or not you choose the current fashion rage, a pencil skirt, or jeans, this jacket
is able complete any look.
Tammy’s Truism: This is where the cost-per-wear calculation is important as this jacket should be an investment piece; your budget should include tailoring.
