The Last Minute Scramble

When you want to look your best, you pick out what you’re wearing the night before—if

not physically, then in your mind. Despite your planning, when you put on your outfit, it

just doesn’t look or feel right (this happened to me yesterday!).

Of course, if you’re like me, you’ve left little time to find something else because you

already “planned” it out. What do you do?

One quick strategy is to dress monochromatically because it always makes you look put

together when you’re not. A single-color outfit always gets noticed and makes an

impact.

A second strategy is to wear a solid, two-color outfit combined with an accessory that’s

an attention getter, be it a scarf, chunky necklace, or fabulous shoes. Here, the

accessory becomes the focal point, and no one notices what you’re wearing with it.

A third strategy is to wear a garment that’s a print or bright color which carries the rest of

your outfit. Pick neutrals or subdued supporting pieces, ensuring the print, not your

other items, are what gets noticed.

Finally, always have two outfits set aside in your closet, one casual, one dressy, that

both make you look and feel great, not forgetting shoes. These two outfits should be

your “go to” and between them, can work for any occasion, without giving it another

thought.

Tammy’s Truism: To avoid the day-of fluster, try on your outfit the night before. When you have an outfit you love and gets you lots of compliments, take a pic so it’s quick and easy to find next time.
