The Weekend Trip

At some point, we get the opportunity to take a weekend resort trip, be it for a wedding,

a retreat, or a much-needed break. There’s a specific feel to these locations:

exclusivity and luxury that envelops you the moment you drive through the landscaped

entrance.

Your dress for this sojourn is unique and is a step above of what you’d normally pack.

It includes a high-end weekender bag, your best jewelry, and nicest garments, as the

style is always a step above, if you’re aiming to fit in. The weekender bag is ideal

because, though it doesn’t have wheels, you don’t have to carry it far, if at all.

The key here is that you want to look like landed gentry, even if you’re not. A less

expensive way to do this, is to buy a consigned, luxury weekender, particularly if you

don’t anticipate using it much. I also pack my nicest fabrics, like cashmere and silk (or

their less expensive mimicked synthetics), creating effortless looking outfits that are

accessorized and balanced.

To achieve this, pack entire ensembles to secure your look; this isn’t an exercise in

efficiency. I tend to choose items I love but don’t have the opportunity to wear often.

Pack clothing that’s resort wear, planning for both outside walks and activities, but also

for drinks at the bar and a nice dinner. Here, a saucy dress or pants with a little sparkle

and heels are best.

Pair a statement necklace with more delicate earrings like diamond studs. Additionally,

scarves add instant sophistication, as does eye-catching heels or a wrap. In the end,

you want to give your otherwise daily look a little boost that gets noticed.

Tammy’s Truism: Ultimately, to achieve the look, make sure that you don’t overdress to the point of discomfort. Always walk in like you belong…
